A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Life-Giving Family Foundation, has put smiles on the faces of students and staff of Namondo Basic School in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region, after resolving their furniture deficit.

The gesture ends the tradition of pupils going through the hustle of sending furniture to and from school daily, writing on their lapses, sitting in threes in dual desks, while others sit on the floor during lessons.

Madam Jackline Abrafi Asare and Prince Yeboah, Co-directors of Life-Giving Family Foundation, disclosed that they were touched by the plight of the school when they learned of its infrastructural and furniture challenges.

“We were touched after seeing young girls and boys writing on their lapse, bending their backs. So we thoughts all these challenges doesn’t make learning enjoyable but rather frustrate the children and also stop others from going to school”, they told Angel FM’s Caleb Kwasi Ali

They continued that, apart from the lack of furniture in the classrooms, another pressing need of the school was the teaching and learning materials to aid extensive practice of proper teaching.

In effect, the donation saw the presentation of 25 dual desks, 4 white markable boards, 700 exercise books, 180 clear bags, 10 parks of erasers, 100 Bibles, 40 third copies books and second copies books.

Other stationeries donated are 1000 sharpeners, 100 boxes of chalks, 3 parks of white marker, 1 box of color pencils, 5 boxes of pens and 100 boxes of crayons.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Deputy Director of Ghana Education Service at Krachi Nchumuru District, Mr. Musah Mohammed, expressed happiness and remarked that the donation would go a long way to reduce the demand for furniture in almost all the schools in the district.

He called on individuals and other NGOs to continue to assist the Ghana Education Service specifically at Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region to improve the Ghanaian Education system.

Headmaster of Namondo Basic School, Mr Wisdom Amalowe, on his part thanked Life-Giving Family Foundation for their timely donation and pledged his outfit’s readiness to take proper care of the furniture for their long use, while entreating all stakeholders and development partners nationwide to come to the aid of Namondo community for speedy educational development.

Meanwhile the Directors of the NGO assured that Life-Giving Family Foundation would continue to extend humanitarian hand to prison services, churches and any other orphanage homes across the country.

“Since this is our official donation after becoming a foundation, we will continue to do more of this. The situation is not only here so we will deliver our social responsibility mandate wherever our services is needed” they added.
