The Prophet who predicted the death of Ghanaian Dancehall artist, Nii Armah Mensah popularly known Shatta Wale, is expected to make an appearance in court today Monday October 25, 2021 to stand trial after his remand in police custody for five days.

Bishop Stephen Akwasi Appiah aka Jesus Ahoefo, is being charged for allegedly causing fear and panic.

Appearing before the circuit court on Thursday, presided over by Helen Ofei Ayeh, the New Life Kingdom Chapel overseer pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His lawyer, Martin Kpebu, prayed the court to grant his client bail on basis that he was unwell, but the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey, opposed it according to Section 95 (5) of the Criminal and other offences act.

According to him, there was no evidence before the court that the defendant was sick.

Further stated that the case is still being investigated by the Ghana Police hence granting him bail could create room for Bishop Appiah to grant interviews to media houses and give information to the public which could affect the investigation, because he is influential with over 1000 followers.

“The safety of the society is at stake and the interest of society is bigger than that of an accused person. The right of an accused person is not absolute and not bigger than that of the society,” Ghana News Agency (GNA) reported him to have added.
