Hearts of Oak to face Algeria’s JS Saoura in Confederation cup playoff

Ghanaian champions Accra Hearts of Oak has been paired against Algerian side Jeunesse Sportive Saoura in the playoff round of the 2021/22 CAF Confederations Cup.

The comes after the draw was held at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, Tuesday, 26 October 2021 at 11:00 GMT (13:00 Cairo Local Time).

Hearts will host their North African counterpart in the first leg in Accra on the weekend of 26-28th November before the second leg in Algeria on the weekend of 3rd-5th December.

Following this, winner of the two matches will advance into the ground stage popularly known as ‘money zone’ of Africa’s second most elite club competition.

Accra Hearts of Oak

The phobians were eliminated from the CAF Champions League by Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club after a 6–2 aggregate scoreline in the playoffs after beating CI Kamsar of Guinea in the first round qualifiers.

Meanwhile, JS Saora defeated Mauritanean side ASAC Concorde on 3-2 aggregate in the CAF Confederations Cup second preliminary round on Saturday.

Hearts of Oak, the 2004/05 CAF Confederations Cup Champions, last appeared in the same competition back in 2015 when they got eliminated at the same stage by Tunisian giants Esperance.

Meanwhile, JS Souara has been consistent in CAF competitions since 2017 after they were founded in 2008.
