I earned nothing from role-play in ‘JunkaTown’ movie – Atemuda

Actor cum comedian, Bismarck Essel, popularly known in the entertainment industry as ‘Atemuda’, has disclosed that he was not paid for his role-play in the ‘JunkaTown’ movie.

Asked by the host of the Angel Drive, Quofi Kyeame, on Angel 102.9 FM, Tuesday, November 9, 2021, if he wasn’t really paid for his role-play in the series, he replied that “nothing I get…,” to suggest he got nothing.

However, he has not regretted joining the JunkaTown series since the show shot him to fame, he added.

According to him, prior to the movie gaining public acceptance, Takoradi, capital of the Western Region, was not “functioning” (sic) on the entertainment front but after the introduction of ‘JangaTown Takoradi was recognised.

He added that despite the fact that he is not earning anything, he was okay since he knew he was “building a better tomorrow.”

Atemuda noted that he was proud to be part of something as great as the JunkaTown series.

Through JunkaTown, the team was able to come out with different series like ‘Vow of silence’ and ‘Tanganyika’.

He revealed that he got the opportunity to feature in the movie during one of their editing sessions.

Narrating the incident, he said he was co-producing funny videos with a friend called ‘Sunsum’ but on that fateful day, the producers after watching two of the videos, acknowledged his talent and gave him a chance.

He said he now has a youtube channel from which he earns a living.
