The chances of the Ghana Black Stars qualifying to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, is fading following their failure to beat their Ethiopian counterpart.

Milovan Rajevac’s men were held to a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes of play.

Captain Andre Dede Ayew’s superb free kick in the first half saw Ghana take the lead at the Olando Stadium in South Africa.

Nevertheless, Getaneh Kebede’s 72nd minute equalizer cancelled the lead for the home side who played away from home after CAF declared their favourite Bahir Dar Stadium in Ethiopia unfit to host international matches.

This means group leaders South Africa could boost their chances of qualifying if they win against Zimbabwe latter in the day.

Both Ghana and South Africa have 10 points each but the latter have a game to play and a win will at home against Zimbabwe will see them lead with three points.

Ghana will then host South Africa in a showdown on Sunday, November 14, 2021, to determine who qualifies from the group.

The Black Stars would have to win by superior goal margin in order to book qualification ahead of the Bafana Bafana boys.
