10 students drown in Oti River while returning from Headmaster’s farm

Ten Junior High School (JHS) students got drowned in the Oti River in the Saboba District on Friday when a boat they were travelling in capsized on the Oti River.

The students, according information from Citi FM drowned in the river while returning home after weeding their headmaster’s farm in another town.

Seven bodies have so far been retrieved from the river while the remaining three are being searched for by the rescue team.

Reports indicate that the dead bodies have been kept at the Saboba police station awaiting identification by the parents.

20 students out of the 30 were able to swim across the river.
