The reigning Ghana Women’s Premier League champions, Hasaacas Ladies, are through to the finals of the first TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions following their 2-1 triumph over ASFAR of Morocco.

A superb 77th minute header from talented 19-year old midfielder, Evelyn Badu was enough to ensure that they become the first club to reach the finals of the inaugural competition.

The ‘Hasmal’ Ladies who dominated their Moroccans counterparts took the lead through Doris Boaduwaa in the 36th minute in the first semi final game at the Al Salaam Stadium on Monday afternoon.

ASFAR responded swiftly just after nine minutes of conceding to restore parity through Najat Badri on the stroke of halftime.

Hasaacas Ladies returned from the break with an opportunity to increase their tally but Perpetual Agyekum saw her 64th minute penalty hit the goalposts after goalkeeper, Khadija Er-Rmichi had fouled a player in the box.

Coach Yusif Basigi’s ladies kept fighting hard until the 77th minute when in-form midfielder Evelyn Badu slotted home a powerful header from Doris Boaduwaa’s cross to seal the tie.

Captain, Janet Egyir was adjuged the ‘Woman of the Match’.

Evelyn Badu has now scored 5 goals and lead’s the tournament top scorer chart. She was earlier voted by the Technical Study Group (TSG) as the group stage best player.

With the results, Hasaacas Ladies will now battle Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa who won a 5-4 penalty shootout against Malabo Kings for the ultimate on Friday November 19, 2021 at the 30 June Stadium, Cairo.
