The Ghana Police Service has arrested its staff member, No. 51530 General Lance Corporal Victor Antwi Yeboah, for “violating the dignity” of a woman.

It follows a viral video in which the Police Officer was seen in a car sexually harassing the woman whose name has been withheld.

According to a statement issued by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwasi Ofori, the officer involved in the “shameful and despicable act” is stationed at the Regional Operations Unit, Bono Regional Police Command.

“The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare has reached out and spoken to the victim and assured her of thorough police investigations and any other necessary police support, including psychological care and trauma therapy” the statement added.

Rendering an apology to the victim and to the general public since “the matter affects the very moral foundation of our country”, the police have assured that they will conduct full investigations into the matter and abreast the public with same in due course.
