The Electricity Company of Ghana operating within the Tema Region has announced that it is engaging traditional authorities to address outages and insecurity in the Lower Manya Krobo area.

According to the ECG, threats of insecurity has been an impediment to their operation in the district office at Somanya.

Again, the company through a statement indicated that the outages being experienced within the Lower Manya Krobo and Yilo Krobo communities is due to the activities of some unscrupulous persons who have illegally transferred customers to an adjacent transformer.

The illegal migration has thus overloaded and destroyed several transformers causing the current outages within the area.

“Affected customers should please note that, ECG is engaging traditional authorities to find a lasting solution to address the various issues particularly the insecurity which does not permit us to operate in the district office at Somanya”, said the ECG.

It also announced that in view of the on-going interference in their network as a result of scaling down of operations in the Krobo area which was necessitated by the threat to their staff, ECG has decided to shutdown the feeders at the Bulk Supply Point directly feeding the communities in order to protect their network as well as lives and properties of customers.
