The Ghana Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports has rewarded each member of the gallant Ghana Amputee National Football Team with $2000.

The team emerged victorious on the continent at the just-ended Africa Amputee Cup of Nations (CANAF) in Tanzania after beating Liberia 3-2 to become the champions of Africa.

In honouring the team with their reward packages following their unprecedented performance of going unbeaten in the process of conquering Africa, the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif hosted the team on Tuesday, December 14 at the ministry.

Each member of the Black Challenge team had $2000 for winning the Amputee Africa Cup of Nations.

The Minister therefore applauded the team for the feat achieved in Tanzania to keep the flag of Ghana flying high.

He used the opportunity call on the Amputee Football Federation to have a peaceful resolution and bring to an end the long existing litigation issues affecting the Federation since 2016 for the development of the sport.

“While we are thankful for our efforts, I’ll like to use this opportunity to call on all parties at the Amputee Football Federation to settle your differences and forge forward with the sole purpose of developing amputee football” says Mustapha Ussif.

Meanwhile, it is recalled that nine players of the contingent bought their own tickets for the participation in the competition without approval from the Ministry due to the administrative divisions at the Amputee Federation.

However, the team upon their return after becoming stranded in the East African country, saw the sports Ministry quickly intervening to buy tickets for the players to return home last Tuesday, December, 7 2021.
