Police places ₵50k bounty on robbers who killed officers at Zuarungu

The Police Administration is offering a GH₵50,000 reward for anyone who will volunteer information leading to the arrest of the robbers who murdered two policemen in Zuarungu in the Upper East Region.

The incident happened on Wednesday December, 15, 2021 at Zuarungu.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Director General, Public Affairs of the Ghana Police, ACP Kwasi Ofori while commiserating with families of the two police officers.

The deceased officers are; Constable Emmanuel Akowuah and Constable Mohhamed Sule who met their untimely death while on night patrols in the hands of suspected armed robbers.

The robbers subsequently shot at the tank of a motorbike in possession of the police officers and partially burnt constable Mohammed Sule while constable Emmanuel Akowuah was shot in the head.

In the statement, he stressed that “we are assuring the families of the two deceased police officers and the general public that we are determined to get these suspected robbers arrested to face justice for their callous act.”

Also, the statement asked the general public to cooperate with the police to arrest the suspected robbers to face the law.

In the process, a special Anti-Robbery task force has been deployed to assist the upper East Regional Police Command in combating robbery and other voilent crimes to safeguard lives and properties.

The statement further said the police administration will offer the families of the deceased psychological and trauma care after informing them of the sad incident.

The IGP has directed the “Eastern Regional and Volta Regional Police Commanders to lead delegations to Kibi and Alavanyo respectively to commiserate with the bereaved families of the two police officers” and convey the condolences of the Police Administration.
