The New Patriotic Party’s Treasurer has revealed that Members of Parliament’s (MPs) contribution to the coffers of the party played a key role in raising their funds by 128 percent.

According to Mr. Abankwa Yeboah, moneys generated for the party shot up from GH₵5 million in the lead up to the 2016 to GH₵15 million towards 2020 elections.

“Filing fee for both the presidential and Primaries have amounted to 15,635,220 an increase in over 128 percent over 2015/2016 collections at the parliamentary primaries of 5,434,000” said the treasurer.

He made this revelation when he was giving accounts of the party’s finances during the annual National Delegates Conference held at the Heroes Park in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

He said the contribution of the MPs “remains one of our key revenue inflow channels” hence urged the representatives and MP hopefuls to continue to contribute more to the party.

“No amount is too small” he added in his speech.

Meanwhile he has also stated that membership Identification cards and dues payment cards will be rolled out in all constituencies.

According to him, the objectives of the exercise is to “deepen decentralization of dues collection and introduce more efficiency in the process.”

He said doing that will help the party generate funds to support what will be coming at the national level to contribute to development and implementation of the party’s policies.
