7 rail lines to kickstart Ghana’s proposed bullet train operation

A Ghanaian Scientist, Dr. Thomas Mensah, who has been living in Atlanta United States of America has partnered with the Ministry of Railway Development to build bullet train in Ghana to support the railway sector.

In an interview on Angel FM’s Anopa Bofoↄ morning show with Kwamena Sam Biney, he said when the train is built, it will boost Ghana’s economy.

According to him, seven rail lines will be constructed among which is Akosombo-Somanya, Accra-Kumasi, Kyebi-Kumasi, Accra-Tamale, Accra-Burkina Faso, Aflao-Elubo and Takoradi-Kumasi.

He said despite Ghana gaining independence before Kenya, the latter has built the bullet train serving the he country’s economy for which reason Ghana cannot lag behind.

“Ghana cannot remain where it is. We got to develop and these are the things that will help us develop” he said.

Dr. Thomas said he has assisted America to establish and to commercialize a technology called fibre optics which has aided the technological space and he is ready to replicate same enthusiasm in the country’s technological revolution.

As such the bullet train will be built with the fibre optic technology and will also have access to Wi-Fi to help reduce the cost of data in the country.

He noted on the show that he has the support of the president of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the minister of railway development, Peter Amewu who are passionate about bringing the proposal to bare.

“Peter Amewu the Railway Minister has agreed to partner with me to come on board with my inventions to build the bullet train for the people of Ghana under Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT)”he added.

According to him, the project will be private-led to ensure efficiency in revenue mobilization for the economy and profits for the investors who have funded it.
