December 27 and 28 declared statutory public holidays

The Ministry of Interior has said that Monday December 27; and Tuesday, December 28, should be observed as statutory public holidays throughout the country.

This was announced in a statement, signed by Mr. Ambrose Dery, the sector Minister, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.

The statement explained that since the 25th and 26th fall on Saturday and Sunday respectively, President Akufo-Addo has declared Monday, 27th and Tuesday, 28th December respectively as additional holidays.

“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601) declared Monday, 27th December and Tuesday, 28th December, 2021 as additional Public Holidays and should be observed as such throughout the country” it stressed.

Christians throughout the world mark the birth of Jesus Christ, on December 25, while the following day is used as a ceremonial day for opening boxes of presents.
