The members of the Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana (MMAAG) have called off their intended strike slated for Thursday, December 23.
The group had on Monday December 20, 2021 threatened a nationwide strike over the yet-to-be introduced 1.75 percent E-Levy.
In a statement released, MMAAG said they had to consider some circumstances in the country as such the police’s schedule for Christmas to rescind their decision.
“We know that our members are very resolute and poised to get on the streets to fight in protection of their businesses but we cannot do away with the fact that we are Ghanaian and must be concerned about how we intend to make this strike/demonstration happen.”
The statement also revoked their decision based on Parliament’s recess, challenges with police personnel protection as well as a recent engagement with representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation as well as National Communications Authority (NCA).
It added, Members of Parliament (MPs) were supposed to receive their petition but being on break meant that nobody will be available to receive the petition.
“Also the police have a challenge protecting us and the general public due to their schedule for Christmas and its related issues” the statement hinted.
