The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has issued a directive for immediate interdiction of officers involved in the alleged extortion of money leading to their curse in a viral video.

The officers include Chief Inspector William Tawiah, Sargent Ibrahim Iddi, Sargent Richard Otoo, Sargent Samuel Kumah and Corporal Richard Kpeanaah.

According to a wireless communication sent to the Director General of Police at the Professional Standards Office and the Highway Patrol Unit at the Police Headquarters, all equipment and attires in their possessions are expected to be taken from them.

“He [Dr. George Akuffo Dampare] further directs that all weapons, uniforms and other police accoutrements in their possession be collected into safe custody” the letter signed by Chief Superintendent of Police, Alex K. Safo-Adu said.

The IGP further directed that the “DEPOL/ER should expedite action on the investigations and submission of an administrative report”.

According to the raged Samimu Yahya, the officers on patrol duty had stopped him while he was driving to Asamankese in the Eastern Region to purchase some tyres.

“They accused me of throwing marijuana into the backseat, but I didn’t throw any marijuana there” he narrated in Twi.

Yahya continued that one of the officers went to the backseat and pointed to the narcotic substance while insisting that he threw it to the back to the extent that “one of the police officers struck me twice to speak the truth”.

He alleged that the officers took from him an amount of GH₵500.00 (5 million old currency) before letting go of him after slapping his wrists with handcuffs.

“Because I don’t have the time to file a law suit against them, I have come to this waterbody in my village to curse them. This is my court” the victim of the abuse said, pointing to the water.

Meanwhile on the Anopa Bofoↄ morning show with Kofi Adoma Nwanwani earlier on January 6, 2022 he confessed of ever smoking marijuana, but at the time he was in senior high school.

He told the host he had imprecated the patrol officers together with their families that the water god “Nana Ayensu” should deal with them accordingly.
