Enchi: Couple arrested for beating 4-year-old girl to death for bedwetting

The Enchi District Police have arrested a couple at Enchi-Yakase in the Aowin Municipality of Western North Region for allegedly beating their four-year-old daughter to death over bedwetting.

The suspects, Effah Donaldson, 34 and his 27 year old wife Salome Oteku reportedly caned the victim from dawn till morning, leaving her unconscious.

The incident is said to have happened on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

The victim, Francisca Etuteh, according to sources was also forced by her parents to sit on hot water in the process in an attempt to prevent the frequent bedwetting.

Confirming the matter on Adom FM as monitored by Angelfmonline.com, the Enchi Police Divisional Commander, ACP Henry Bacho, indicated that the parents rushed their daughter to the Aowin Community Clinic but was pronounce dead upon arrival.

He added that, the couple having committed the offense attempted to bury the deceased secretly but a swift tip off by a good Samaritan at the area led to the arrest of the suspects in their house.

ACP Henry stressed that, following interrogations, the accused confessed to the crime committed.

Meanwhile, the police have retrieved the body from the suspects bedroom and deposited it at the Enchi Government Hospital for autopsy and further investigations.
