The Larteh Association of United Kingdom (UK) and the Larteh Association of Canada, two registered charity groups have jointly donated medical equipment to the Larteh Health Centre in the Akuapem North Municipality in the Eastern Region.

The donation, according to the groups, comprising of citizens of Larteh based in the UK and Canada respectively, was in response to a request made by management of the facility back in July 2021 and also a give back to the society most especially where they born and bred.

The items worth GH¢ 50,000 were presented at a small ceremony at the hospital in Akuapem Laterh on Saturday, January 20, 2022.

The items presented by Larteh Association UK includes; one HP Desktop computer, 10 Blood Pressure Monitors, 24 Diabetes Monitors,1200 Lancets,1000 strips and one dressing pack.

Others are; three metal chairs, 60 bed sheets, 60 pillow cases and 107 curtains.

The rest are; six big dust bins, 20 mops and buckets, 40 plastic chairs as well as some funds to help fix the water pump to enable water flow frequently throughout all washrooms of the facility.

Presenting the items to the hospital separately, the vice president of the Laterh Association (UK) Madam Monica Arthur observed their gesture follows the hospital’s request made due to lack of basic equipment and thus the response seeks to help improve the services of health care delivery at the facility.

Additionally, she stressed on the importance of their give-back because they believe in ‘health to wealth’ since possessing all the resources in the world without been ‘healthier’ is needless.

Besides, she underscored how prestigious it became for some citizens living in abroad especially the UK and Canada groups to always attend to the dire needs of the people because it is their civic responsibility to give back to their native “Larteh” town amid contributing their quota to development.

Madam Arthur further asked management of the Laterh Health Centre to highly patronize the maintenance culture of the items to enable it use for the right purposes, a condition she said will motivate them to do more in the near future.

Similarly, Mr. Thomas Obiri Yirenkyi, who represented the Larteh Association of Canada explained that there is more of such steps for the people of Larteh and its environs.

He continued by calling on the government especially the municipal assembly, stakeholders, individuals, benevolent, organizations, NGO’s and other citizens of the area living abroad to come to their assistance.

Receiving the items, a Nurse of the facility, Vivian Tordzro commended Larteh Association UK and Larteh Association Canada for their support and generosity to the hospital.

Miss Tordzro thereby extended her gratitude to the traditional authorities of the area and the people of Larteh for rallying behind them in all times.

Mrs. Ellen Abbey, the Physician assistant for the Larteh Health Centre who received the items on behalf of the hospital admitted the items will relieve them from their basic needs adding that, the donation had come in handy.
