Hearts of Oak: Mohammed Alhassan appointed interim captain

Ghana Premier League champions, Hearts of Oak, have named defender Mohammed Alhassan as the interim captain for the team.

The decision follows the suspension of the main captain Fatawu Mohammed for violating the terms of his contract.

The club in a communique says Fatawu was suspended for two weeks.

“We wish to inform fans of the club and the general public that captain Fatawu Mohammed has been suspended from the senior team for 2 weeks for violating the terms of his contract. During the period of the suspension, he will be required to train with the junior team.

“In his absence, Mohammed Alhassan will act as captain. The player has been engaged and the implications of his actions and the reason behind the punishment have been explained to him,” it said on the club’s Twitter page.

Accra Hearts of Oak are currently sixth on the Ghana Premier League table with 20 points from 12 matches but has one outstanding game against arc rivals Asante Kotoko.
