GPL: Hearts of Oak beat King Faisal 1:0 thanks to Obeng Jnr strike

Accra Hearts of Oak beat King Faisal on Sunday afternoon to return to winning ways in the ongoing 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

Kwadwo Obeng Junior scored the only goal to secured a 1-0 victory for the home side.

Despite the win, the points gap between Hearts of oak and rivals Asante Kotoko remain 10.

Kotoko lead the summit with 33 points while Hearts of oak currently sit 5th with 23 points after the win.

Sulley Muntari, who has reportedly joined Samuel Boadu’s side on a year’s contract, was at the Accra Sports Stadium to watch the game.

Asante Kotoko on Friday defeated Great Olympics in a 2-0 win at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, thanks to a brace from Cameroonian import Franck Mbella.

The goals become Mbella’s 7th and 8th goals of the season after converting a 10th minute penalty before he added the second in the 34th minute.

Legon Cities produced a 3-0 win against Eleven Wonders to climb out of the relegation zone.

Real Tamale United drew 1-1 with Karela United while Berekum Chelsea beat Accra Lions 3-1.
