UG to investigate drowning of fresher at campus pool side

The University of Ghana (UG) has announced the commencement of an investigation into the death of a level 100 student.

The first year student is believed to have drowned at the University’s pool.

The incident occurred on Saturday January 29.

The University, in a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs Directorate, Elizier T. Ameyaw-Buronya said the University is liaising with the Police to launch investigations into the matter.

Management, in their January 30 statement, sent their condolences to the bereaved family.

Again, the University noted that “the family of the student has been notified and the body has since been deposited at the University Hospital while further investigations take place.

The Director of Public Affairs, while assuring the community of being informed of further developments also assured members of the University Community and the bereaved family that management is working together with the Police and the University Health Services to investigate the unfortunate incident.
