Great Olympics defeated regional rivals Hearts Of Oak 1-0 on Sunday afternoon, to win the bragging rights over the defending champions in the ‘Ga Mantse’ derby at the Accra Stadium.

A strike in the opening 30 minutes from forward Abdul Razak Yussif, secured three points for the ‘Oly Dade’ boys.

The win also helped them leapfrog Hearts on the league table into 5th position on 25 points with the Phobians dropping to 7th place on 23 points after 15 matches and one outstanding game.

The visitors, Great Olympics controlled the last fifteen minute of the first half, denying the hosts from grabbing the equalizer before the break.

Samuel Boadu’s boys dominated play in the closing stages of the game in search of an equalizer but the defence of Great Olympics proved too strong for them.

Sulley Muntari enjoyed 13 minutes on the pitch after replacing William Dankyi in what became his debut in the Ghana Premier League after joining Hearts of Oak.

The win leaves Olympics in high spirits ahead of their next home game with Elmina Sharks at the Accra Stadium in match week 17 whilst Hearts travel to Tamale to face RTU.
