The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed that Black Stars goalkeeper’s trainer Richard ‘Olele’ Kingson, is still at post.

The technical and management team of the Black Stars were dissolved following a meeting between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the GFA officials after the team’s poor campaign at the just ended 2021 AFCON.

Mr. Asante Twum speaking to Saddick Addams ‘known’ as Sports Obama on Angel FM’s floodlight sports clarifies that, the former Black Stars stopper remains the team’s goalkeeping coach.

“Richard Kingson is still the goalkeeper’s trainer of the Black Stars team and he is still in Ghana to represent the other members who are not here when need be,” he said.

Richard Kingson, who worked under Kwasi Appiah as goalkeeper’s trainer of the team in May 2017, was reappointed for the same job in August 2021 after he was relieved of his duty in December 2019 when the technical team was dissolved.

He replaced Najawu Issah who was reassigned to the Black Stars B.

The former Great Olympics, Black Pool and Birmingham City goalkeeper led the team’s goalkeeping department during the 2021 AFCON.
