The Criminal Investigations Department says it is investigating an alleged fraudulent acquisition of Government lands at AU Village in Cantonments President Akufo-Addo’s wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

The claim, according to the police, was discussed on Accra FM’s ‘Citizens Show’ hosted by Nana Kwabena Bobie-Ansah.

Subsequently, the journalist was arrested Thursday, February 10, 2022, by the Accra Regional Police Command, in connection with the alleged case in what the police described as “publications of false news and offensive conduct.”

The police, however, noted that the broadcaster’s arrest became necessary after “he turned down several invitations from the police to him and others involved in the case, to assist with investigations.

A letter dated January 31, 2022, and signed by the District Crime officer of the Cantonment Divisional Police, Frikyira Apeatu Adabo, said the command had written to the management of Class Media requesting assistance from the station in their investigations.

“The Command will be grateful if you could furnish us with videos of the above-mentioned radio programme discussed from 10th January 2022 to 17th January 2022 to aid our investigations,” the letter read.
