The Crusaders Against Corruption Ghana (CACG), has called for an investigation into alleged monies paid by the Chief of Staff to the account of the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

Their demand follows claims made by the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong in an in interview on Accra-based Asaase Radio that, he was given an amount of GH¢120,000 to be deposited into the Bank Account of Adwoa Safo.

According to Mr. Agyapong the rationale behind the Chief of Staff’s offer, was to lure Sarah Adwoa Sarfo to return to the country for parliamentary duties which would benefit the government.

“The Chief of Staff called me and I went, I swear (on) my mother’s grave, Chief of Staff gave me GHC120,000 and deposited into Adwoa Safo’s Fidelity Bank Account. I took the money there into the Fidelity Account, ask her personal assistant if what I am saying is not the truth,” Kennedy Agyapong disclosed.

However, the Crusaders in a petition said they are demanding for an investigation into the claims made by the Assin Central MP on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

The petition also stated the Lawmaker alleged that “a private jet was hired for Hon. Adwoa Safo just for her to come into Ghana from the USA to enable her join her colleagues in parliament to enable them make decision on the E-levy.”

The CACG highlighted further that Mr. Agyapong also said in the interview that he himself, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey and the Minister for Roads and Highway, Amoako Atta made a flight arrangement for the MP from the US to Ghana to join their NPP colleagues in parliament regarding decision making on the E-levy.
