‘We’re stuck here’ – Ghanaian footballer narrates ordeal in Ukraine

Ukrainian-based Ghanaian defender, Najeeb Yakubu, has opened up on the ordeal Ghanaian footballers plying their trade in the country are facing, following Russia”s the invasion there.

“Everything is finished in the shops. We don’t know what to do. We have to move as soon as possible but, how can we? We are stuck here,” he accounted.

The former Black Starlet player added that following the situation, his club has since advised the playing body to stay home henceforth.

“I woke up to the news [of the attack]. They sent an emergency message that there wouldn’t be training and that we should stay at home and be safe.

“I called my friends in the city that was attacked and they said this is not a movie, it’s serious,” Najeeb Yakubu said.

Meanwhile, Ghana Government has expressed concerns about the safety of Ghanaian students and Ghanaians at large in the country and thereby, asked them to seek shelter in their homes or in government places since plans are underway to evacuate them.
