Man arrested for faking robbery attack

The Police in Accra have arrested a man on suspicion of faking a robbery attack with, the plan to use a sum of GH₵69,000 belonging to his boss to travel abroad.

The accused person, Godfred Kataso, on February 11, 2022 was sent to deposit a sum amount of GH₵69,000.00 at the Bank.

According to a police statement, some hours later the accused person went to the Accra Central Police Station to filee a robbery complaint that two gun wielding men robbed him of the money around the National Theatre, Accra and absconded.

Upon investigation, police reports established that the alleged robbery was a “hoax” which the suspect confirmed feigning the robbery as he stole the money himself to enable him to travel abroad.

The Police further revealed that after the investigations, the GH₵69,000.00 has been retrieved for evidential purposes.

He has since been detained in custody and will be arraigned before court soon, police noted.
