Some 115 young men in Nigeria are reported to have registered their names to be enlisted among Ukraine’s forces to fight against Russia.

This has been confirmed by the Second Secretary of Ukrainian embassy in Abuja, Bohdan Soltys, who indicated to the media that actions have not been taken in effect to the development.

The decision by the ‘men of valor’ to join the Ukrainian force comes as a response to calls by the war-torn area President, Volodymyr Zelensky, who urged people around the world to rally behind it in the fight.

The President had accused Russia of not only invading his country, but fighting against democracy and basic human rights.

He therefore called on all to who wish to help to volunteer to fight against the Russian army.

Meanwhile the development is at a time when a rights group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) accused President Buhari of failing to evacuate Nigerians on time for their safety.

“Like other aspects, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidency fumbled again.

“This time, woefully, because it failed to effectively and timeously evacuate Nigerians from Ukraine many weeks before the eventual war started, following the needless invasion of Ukraine by Russia on the illegal orders of President Vladimir Putin.”

The national coordinator of the association, Emmanuel Onwubiko said in a statement issued on Sunday.
