The Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K. T. Hammond, has charged theĀ  National Security to invite Prof. Raymond Atuguba for questioning, for suggesting Ghana is rife for a coup.

Describing, Prof. Atuguba’s comments as “clear foolishness”, he said the comment on coup d’etat is really serious thus the author must be made to answer for such a reckless statement which can lead Ghana into a serious situation.

Prof. Raymond Atuguba while speaking at a function organised by Solidare Ghana on Tuesday, March 1, stated that given the current economic conditions coupled with hardships faced by Ghanaians, though the nation doesn’t call for a coup, the prevailing conditions make Ghana rife for a coup.

But the Adansi Asokwa MP lambasted the Professor of Law saying that Prof. Atuguba should have known better.

Mr. Hammond in an interview with the media in Parliament said, the military and the police have serious national assignments and they must not be disturbed with issues of coup d’etat which is gradually becoming unguarded talk on the lips of people who should have known the effects of coup d’etat.

Mr. K. T Hammond concluded that the laws of the land are against coup d’etat since the first thing that would be overthrown is the Constitution and without it, there would be no democracy for this country.
