A teacher, believed to be in his 40s is in police custody, for allegedly subjecting his partner to ill treatment till she died at Gomoa Ankamu in the Gomoa West District, Central Region.

The victim, Yaa Linda, a 31-year-old also a  teacher at Gomoa Ejumako D/A Primary School, met her untimely death on the evening of Friday, March 11, 2022, when Isaac Kwesi Kyemenu Sarsah reportedly pounced on her and strangled her until she became unconscious.

Family of the deceased told Angel News, she was pronounced dead moments after reaching the hospital following the incident.

They noted that Isaac and Linda had been cohabiting for 15 years and have four children.

The suspect, according to them, had been beating and issuing threats to the woman warranting their separation and relocation of Madam Linda for her safety.

The family thus conferred and determined that she would not return to the assailant until the latter marries her.

However, after meeting his partner in her room and strangling her till she passed out, Mr. Kyemenu reportedly fled the scene to a nearby bush in an attempt to commit sucide.

A member of the family speaking to Angel News’ Opanyi Darko said a search mounted by the youth of the community found him in the bush unstable.

“We made the announcement and formed a search party in quest for him. Indeed, we found him but he was in a bad condition. Because he killed his wife, he wanted to take his own life too so he drank poison and was vomiting blood.

“Nevertheless, the crowd was large and we decided not to take the law into our hands so we rushed him to the Hospital [Apam Catholic Hospital]”, he said.

Kronti-hene of Gomoa Ankamu, Nana Yaw Obow Kwansah, is a brother of the deceased.

According to him, the matter was immediately reported to the police whilst Isaac was being sent to the hospital for the poisonous substance to be extracted from his blood.

He indicated the family’s readiness to prove with evidences that suggest that Mr. Kyemenu is responsible for the death of their relative.

“He [Mr Kyemenu] has several times threatened to hurt her and has beaten her up many times. We have the evidence on her [Linda Yaa] phone. In one of the incidents he beat her to the point where her eye became bloody. We have the evidence to tender to the police in support of our claim that he has been beating her.”

Meanwhile Mr. Isaac Kyememu Sarsah is currently at the Apam hospital receiving treatment under police guard while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue.
