The Ghana Police Service is on the heels of a Lebanese man who threatened to cut the neck of a Ghanaian.

According to the Service, their attention has been drawn to the viral video on social media and they are working around the clock to arrest the suspect.

“This viral video has come to our attention and we are working on it,” the police stated in a twitter post on Tuesday, April 13, 2022.

This follows a widely circulated video on social media in which a fairly built man with beard is seen wielding a cutlass from a sheath and was screaming: “come out, come out. I will cut your neck.”

According to the ‘threatened Ghanaian’ identified as Iddrisu Yusif, the threat came when he asked the said Lebanese to move his car, which was parked at his [shoe] selling spot for about an hour.

“I didn’t do anything wrong to him… I’m not feeling good at all, and I don’t know why. I don’t know what is happening to me”, said Mr. Yusif in an interview on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday.

He disclosed that the matter has been duly reported to the police.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese embassy has condemned the act and called on state authorities to investigate and “to take appropriate measures against the offender.”

Facebook Post from Embassy of Lebanon in Ghana

In a Facebook post, the embassy wrote that “we reject all forms of violence and intimidation, as well as anyone who does not treat the people of the host country with respect and in accordance with applicable laws,” the embassy posted on Facebook.
