Akufo-Addo appoints Dr Okoe Boye CEO of NHIA

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed former Deputy Health Minister, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

According to details of his appointment in a letter dated April 21, 2022, signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Dr. Benard Okoe is to assume duties as the NHIA CEO from May 3, 2022.

The former Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku Constituency’s appointment was in accordance with Section 14 (1) of the National Health Insurance Act, 2012 (Act 852).

‘I am pleased to inform you that the President has appointed you as the Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (the “Authority”), pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the government board of the Authority, given in consultation with the Public services Commission” Frema Osei-Opare stated in the letter.

Dr. Benard Okoe Boye is however given a period of 14 days to accept or otherwise of his appointment.

The Chief of Staff used the opportunity to formally congratulate the former deputy Health Minister on his new role.
