The Convenor of the #FixTheCountry Movement, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, has restated his intention to stage a coup d’etat in Ghana over the pending case on the controversial E-levy before the Supreme Court.

The Attorney General (AG), Godfred Yeboah Dame, noted in the case before the Supreme Court that 266 Members of Parliament were present and took part in the process leading to the approval of the Electronic Transaction  Levy (E-Levy).

He then indicated that voting was by a voice vote and therefore allegations about the number present are immaterial.

Following this, the convener for #FixTheCountry Movement, who is currently facing charges of “Treason Felony” for a series of Facebook posts he made, threatening to stage a coup in Ghana, has taken to the same medium threatening to stage a coup again over the e-levy pending case at the Supreme Court.

In the latest threat issued on Saturday, April 30, 2022, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, warned that if the Supreme Court throws out the pending E-levy application before it, “I will do the coup Myself.”

“This Attorney-General does not fear God. He is claiming that the sick and bedridden Chieftaincy Minister actually went into the Chamber and voted for the E-levy even though we all saw that the guy was stuck in his ambulance”

“If the Supreme Court actually throws away the last of its dignity; to join the puppet master in that deception; all just to punish Ghanaians with E-Levy at all cost; so that they Article 71 holders can live large at the Expense of the People then at that juncture dier, we have crossed the rubicon of No return and I will do the Coup myself” says Oliver Barker – Vormawor in his Facebook post

He further renewed his previous claim by describing the Armed Forces of Ghana as being a “Useless Army.”

The outspoken figure was recently arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command on Saturday, February 12, 2022, for allegedly stating that he would stage a coup in Ghana if Parliament passes the E-Levy Bill, and after, described the Ghana Armed Forces as “useless” for not acting despite the public uproar against the E-levy.

“If this E-Levy passes after this cake bullshit, I will do the coup myself. Useless Army!. “Okay, let’s try again. If this E-Levy still passes after this cake bullshit, then may God….Help us to resist oppressor’s rule, With all our will and might for evermore. (2x). Useless Army. Anaa, the value is the same?” Barker-Vormawor posted on February 11, 2022.

The Tema High Court on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, granted Oliver Barker – Vormawor, a bail in the sum of GHC 2 million with two sureties, one of which is to deposit documents covering a landed property within the jurisdiction of the court. He is also, as part of the bail conditions, to report to the police once every week.
