Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his condolence following the killing of Al Jazeera’s Shireen Abu Akleh on Wednesday May 11, 2022.

The American journalist was shot by Israeli forces while on duty, reporting from Jenin in the occupied West Bank of Palestine.

The tragic event roused many including international organizations to anger, who have called on authorities to conduct independent investigation into her murder. Amongst these are the European Union, Amnesty International, and Heads of States across the world.

John Mahama, the 2020 National Democratic Congress Presidential Candidate, also took to his Facebook page to express regrets about the passing of the veteran journalist.

He wants the perpetrator of the crime brought to justice through independent investigation.

The former President also took the opportunity to remind the Akufo-Addo led Government and Dr. George Akuffo Dampare led police administration of the pending case of Ahmed Hussein-Suale’s murder.
