The University of Ghana (UG) has been ranked as the highest tertiary institution in Ghana by the Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index 2022 Version.

The University also placed 15th out of 2049 universities studied in Africa.

However, on the global scale, UG occupied the 1704th position out of 14,284 universities.

The first of the top 1,000 scientists in the country is from the University of Ghana, and more than 270 scientists from the University of Ghana appear in the top 1,000 scientists featured according to the Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index 2022 Version.

The Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index 2022 Version also named Dr. Dwomoa Adu as the best Scientist in Ghana out of 1,000 academics featured.

Dr. Adu is a Senior Research Fellow of the University of Ghana Medical School, College of Health Sciences.

He was adjudged the overall topmost scholar in Ghana out of 231 scientists who made the ranking cut off.

Professor Daniel Adjei Boakye of the Noguchi Memorial Institute and Professor Ernest Aryeetey, Former Vice Chancellor of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) were ranked sixth and seventh scientists in Ghana respectively.
