The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the death of one person following the clash between some youth of Nkoranza and the police in the area on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
The attack followed the death of Albert Donkor an armed robbery suspect who was in the custody of the poilce.
According to a police statement, five others who sustained injuries during the clash are currently on admission at the St Theresa’s Hospital, Nkoranza.
The police noted six suspects who were in police custody managed to escape in the cause of the incident but “strenuous efforts are underway to have them recaptured.”
Two others have also been arrested in connection with the disturbances while other perpetrators are being pursued by the police to face the law.
Calm has since been restored in Nkoranza in the Bono East Region after a reinforcement team from the Regional Headquarters was deployed extensively to maintain law and order.
The police are thereby assuring the people of Nkoranza to go about their socio-economic activities without fear and panic as the security agencies assure to protect lives and property.
