Hundreds of people thronged the premises of the Dome Zonal Council Park, on Saturday, May 28, 2022, to benefit from a free health screening organized by The Maker’s House Chapel International (TMHCI).

The event dubbed “The Free Mobile Clinic” was organized in partnership with the US-based Gold Coast Medical Foundation (GCMF). The beneficiaries were screened for health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hepatitis, malaria, sickle cell, HIV, obesity, among others. Doctors and other health workers from the church partnered with their US-based counterparts to administer care to the people.

Speaking to the media, the General Overseer of The Maker’s House Chapel, Dr. Michael Boadi-Nyamekye, said it was increasingly worrying that many Ghanaians, especially young people are being afflicted by preventable and sometimes curable diseases. He said it was important for citizens to be in good health, so they can contribute meaningfully to the Ghanaian economy.

“We believe that for every child of God to fulfill destiny, they must be in good health and early detection and treatment of any condition is the surest way to stay healthy. A healthy human resource is crucial to Ghana’s development and the continent, hence our decision to offer this free health screening and care.”

On his part, the co-founder of The Gold Coast Medical Foundation, USA, Dr. Kwaku Boakye, said their partnership with The Maker’s House Chapel has made it possible for his organization to offer free and accessible health care to the hundreds of people who came for the screening.

“Part of our mandate at Gold Coast Medical Foundation is to make healthcare free and accessible to the needy so when you look at the ‘Trotro’ and taxi drivers, their mates, the hawkers, market women and the hundreds of people that came, we are glad that we were able to make healthcare free and available to them.”Maker's House

Beneficiaries of the free screening were also given medication by a mobile pharmacy, while those requiring further care were referred for additional medical checks.
