The intended demonstration of #Fixthecountry movement will not hold as the Criminal division 4 court has injuncted the conveners from hitting the streets of Accra for three days.

The court took the decision after the Greater Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service filed a motion on notice praying the court prohibits the conveners, members and supporters of the movement from embarking on the three-day demonstration scheduled to start on June 4, 2022.

Briefing the court, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Sylvester Asare told the court that in the interest of public order, public safety, defence and effective policing, the court ought to prohibit the organisers, agents and supporters from the intended demonstration.

He said the Greater Accra Regional Police Command discussed the routes for the demonstration and laid out some measures for the organizers to study and come back, but the conveners never reverted to them.

Thus, the intended demonstration which date is due on Saturday, could not come off for security reasons, hence the plea for the court to restrain them.
