Black Stars goalkeeper describes Charlton Athletic move as dream come true

Black Stars’ number one goalkeeper, Joseph Wollacott has expressed delight after completing a big move to English League One side Charlton Athletic.

According to the Ghanaian International stopper, his ambitions to play at such a level have come to reality.

Wollacott on Thursday, June 23, 2022, signed a three-year contract with the England-based club where he was officially unveiled.

“Charlton Athletic are delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Joe Wollacott, who was named in the League Two Team of the Season for the 2021/22 campaign.

“Wollacott has signed a three-year deal with the club following the expiry of his contract at Swindon Town,” the League One club has announced.

Speaking for the first time after his move, Joseph Wollacott says he is excited and sees the transfer as elated in his career.

“I’m delighted, it’s the sort of club that you always want to be at. You always have the ambition to play for such a high-profile club. Obviously walking around the stadium you can feel the magnitude of the club. I’m really happy to be here,” he expressed.

Jojo Wollacott made 37 appearances for Swindon Town and kept 11 clean sheets.

The 25-year-old received his first call-up to the Ghana national team for the 2022 World Cup qualification game against Zimbabwe.

He debuted with the Black Stars in a 3-1 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification win over Zimbabwe on October 9, 2021.

He also played an integral role in the Stars team that eliminated Nigeria to book their qualification for the 20222 Qatar World Cup.
