The Black Starlets of Ghana have thrashed the ‘Baby Elephants’ of Ivory Coast 3-2 to win bronze in the 2022 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship.

The Starlets placed third after the match at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The host, having conceded in the early stages of the game through a penalty, came from behind to secure victory to put smiles on the faces of the fans.

However, the Starlets leveled just two minutes via a penalty as well which was later converted by Abdul Rashid Adams in the 19th minute bringing the first half to a 1-1 end.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s boys doubled their lead in the 57th minute through Richard Apokum. But Makhete Moustaha N’Diaye equalized to make it 2-2.

When everybody thought the game was heading for extra time Abdul Razak Salifu scored the winning goal in stoppage time.

Nigeria will take on Burkina Faso in the finals of the competition later tonight to determine who would be crowned champions of West African Zone B.
