The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has asked the ruling government to cancel the E-levy since it has decided to go to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to him, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-led administration suggested the controversial E-levy or the IMF as a possible solution to tackle the country’s economic hardship.

Mr Ablakwa is of the view that now the government has finally opted to go to the IMF, they should scrap the E-levy as any honest government would do.

The Lawmaker suggested after the President instructed his Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to commence formal engagements with the IMF for Fund to support the government’s economic programme.

It was announced by the Ministry of Information on Friday, July 1, 2022.

“You gave Ghanaians two options: E-Levy or IMF. Having opted for the IMF, any honest government will scrap the unconstitutional and repugnant E-Levy immediately,” Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said in a tweet.
