President Akufo-Addo has said that calls for reshuffling among his government are not necessary given the outstanding performances of his appointees.

According to him, his appointees have met his expectations thus he has no reasons to change them.

The president’s response follows several calls to restructure his government. Aside a few changes, he has not made any major reshuffle since assuming office in 2017.

He recently revoked the appointment of the Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

Former President Mahama added his voice and asked the president to sack his Finance Minister – Ken Ofori-Atta and also remove ministers whom he described as ‘dead woods’ for their failure to show active productivity to help Ghana’s ailing economy to get back on track

But speaking in an interview on North Star Radio in Tamale as part of his two-day tour of the Northern Region, President Akufo-Addo expressed satisfaction in the output of his appointees.

“Many of them for me have done outstanding work. Their output has been considerable, and that is what I look at.”

He explained that “if the output measures expectations, then I don’t have any strong reasons to heed the call.”

The president also believes that some of the people calling for a reshuffle are doing so for political reasons just to destabilise his government.

“The calls come for all kinds of reasons; NDC wanting to destabilise the government is one. There are people who are also looking for jobs.”
