The family of the late veteran actor, Reverend Stephen Prince Yawson, popularly known as Wakye have slated the observation of the one-week passing of their relative for later this month, August.
According to information reaching Angelonine.com.gh, the occasion will be held at the Accra Tourism Information Center near the Jubilee House, opposite Afrikiko on August 26, 2022.
Wakye died on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the 37 Military hospital. It was after he was referred from the Ridge Hospital due to the lack of beds.
He was said to have been rushed to the facility following an emergency situation.
“At the 37 Military Hospital, they also had no hospital beds so he was attended to on a stretcher. Before they got back with equipment to attend to him, he gave up the ghost,” Maame Dokono, a colleague veteran actress disclosed in an interview granted Adom FM.
According to her, she received the news with shock because Waakye was very strong and they both attended their colleague’s 70th birthday party a week earlier.
Wakye as he was affectionately called is known for starring in hit movies such as ‘Diabolo’, Obra series, and Babina.
He also featured massively in the TV hit series “Chorkor Trotro” with Funny Face.
His demise has been deemed a big blow to the movie industry.
