The Northern Regional Police Command has said the Northern Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Adam Bantima Samba, is ignorant of the laws on bail.

This was after Mr. Adam Samba had said he broke the law and secured bail to one Tescon president of the region at night.

The Tescon president, Sayibu Afa Yaba was arrested on the night of Wednesday, August 10, 2022, for allegedly using unprintable words on the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Saani Alhassan.

He was alleged to have said the northern Regional Minister did not take his bath before meeting president Akuffo Addo during the president’s visit to the region.

Chairman Samba in an emergency press briefing said “today I heard that the Ghana police department of the northern region have arrested one of my darling boys, it’s very unfortunate that it was in the evening.

“I know Ghana police has laws that you cannot bail someone in the night, but I chairman Samba will break that law to bail him to set a record,” he told journalists on Thursday August 11, 2022.

However, the police in reacting to the matter said there is no law that suspects cannot be granted bail at night or any time of the day as claimed by the regional chairman.

The police further described the chairman’s utterances as pure “erroneous and a clear demonstration of ignorance of the law.”

It thus called on the general public to treat Mr. Adam Bantima Samba’s claims with the contempt it deserves.
