Pregnant woman and two sons burnt to death

A 37-year-old pregnant woman and her two sons have been burnt to death after their three-bedroom apartment caught fire.

The deceased woman was identified as Akua Philomena while her two children are Donald and Junior aged nine and seven respectively.

The incident reportedly occurred at Ohwim Asorenkwanta in the Bantama Sub-metropolis of the Ashanti Region.

Angel News’ Bismark Mensah reports that according to an eyewitness, the fire started around 11:30pm on Monday.

NADMO director for the metropolis, Mr. Justice Abora Kwarteng, said that they had a distress call around 11:30pm on Monday but before his men arrived at the scene the inferno had ravaged everything.

He disclosed that there were other people in the house but the pregnant woman and her sons got trapped in the fire.

“Her daughter was in the other room and tried to open the door but because it was a security door and the fire was spreading quickly, she had to escape for her life and called for help…”

Some berieved residents

Mr. Abora further said they suspect foul play indicating that someone could have started the fire with the intention of killing the woman.

An eyewitness who spoke to the media narrated that “I heard voices screaming for help. Initially, I thought it was an armed robbery but I later saw the fire but the shouting also ceased…”
