Lady kidnapped in Abuakwa robbery rescued

Police in the Ashanti Region have rescued the female victim who was kidnapped in the robbery incident at Abuakwa.

According to the police the said lady, identified as Doris Adjei, is being taken for medical review and psycho-social care.

This comes after news broke that two machete-weilding robbers who attacked two families in a house at Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region robbed them of some valuables and also escaped with one of the female residents of the house.

Information available to angelonline.com.gh indicates that she was found at Abuakwa Mmatiam on Wednesday.

The robbers had demanded a ransom of GHc 20,000 for her release but it is unclear at the time of this report if it was paid or not.

A doctor at the Abuakwa Polyclinic, who examined her told Angel News’ Bismark Mensah that she is suffering from anxiety neorosis but will get the psychological treatment she needs.

“Her condition was bad…She was afraid and did not think she would survive. She thought she was going to be killed when she was kidnapped from her home. She has been vomiting because she hasn’t eaten. We did the lab…”, Dr. Manye Mensah said.

Family of Doris Adjei also expressed their gratitude to the Ghana Police Service for their quick intervention.

Meanwhile the police has declared that “we are still on a manhunt to arrest the robbers.”
