Asante Kotoko appoints new coach

Ghanaian champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, have announced the appointment of former Burkina Faso trainee Seydou Zerbo as the club’s new coach.

The 59-year-old gaffer replaces Prosper Narteh Ogum who recently left his role at the club after guiding them to win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

He signed a one-year contract with Kumasi Asante Kotoko with an option to extend for another year contrary to performance.

The deal became imminent when Zerbo arrived in Ghana last night to conclude negotiations and put pen to paper.

“We are delighted to Announce Burkinabè trainer, Seydou Zerbo as our new Head Coach for one season with an option for a further year” the club Tweeted.

Seydou Zerbo Nicknamed the “Krol” began his coaching career in the 2013-14 season when he manage Rail Club du Kadiogo in Burkina Faso.

He later coached Bankuy Sports from 2014 to 2016 before heading to SONABEL and ASFA Yennenga.

The last team coached by Zerbo was Union Sportive des Forces Armées before he was handed the local national team job.

He last managed the Burkina Faso national team at the 2020 Championship of African Nations Cup (CHAN) tournament in Cameroon.
