The Ghanaian Super Cup game dubbed ‘Champions of Champions’ between league champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko and MTN FA cup champions Accra Hearts of Oak has been canceled.

A communique from the Ghana Football Association says the decision taken by its Executive Council is to give Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the Black Galaxies ample time to prepare for their continental assignments.

The champions of champions was initially scheduled to take place Monday, September 5, 2022, seven days from today.

Kumasi Asante who represents Ghana in the CAF champions league will take on Burkina Faso champions Rail Club du Kadiogo on Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Stade de Yamoussoukro in Cote D’Ivoire.

Meanwhile, the Black Galaxies face Nigeria in the second leg of the final round of the CHAN qualifiers at Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, September 3, 2022.

But in a communique on Monday, August 29, 2022, the cancellation was considered to give the Ghanaian champions time to prepare whiles their bitter rivals Accra Hearts Oak also has six of their players with the national team.

“The cancellation of the Champions of Champions match is to give Champions Asante Kotoko SC ample time to prepare for the Champions League and to afford the Black Galaxies the free room to qualify for the CHAN competition.

“On the other hand, Accra Hearts of the Oak SC also have more than five players in the Black Galaxies and may require a postponement,” the GFA noted.
