The Deputy Minister of Food and Agricultural, Yaw Frimpong Addo, has stated that the Akufo-Addo-led NPP government is poised to support farming activities in the country.

According to the minister, agriculture is the pivot of every country that if properly supported, can boost the socio-economic development in Ghana.

He noted that Planting for food and jobs which is a policy introduced by the current government has made farming very attractive prompting many Ghanaians to go into the farming sector.

The Deputy Minister spoke to Angel News after the maiden graduation ceremony of “Nyonkodor Farmers Association” of over 116 farmers. The event took place at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, Central Region, on Thursday, September 15, 2022.

Mr Frimpong Addo furthered that farming activities are seriously contributing to the development of the nation, so the government is ready to provide farming equipment for them to enhance their business.

This was after the President of Nyonkodor Farmers Association, Prophetess Rebecca Aboagye, who doubles as the Founder and leader of the Elected Prayer Ministry, appealed to the government to provide them with farming equipment.

According to her, 1,500 members nationwide supply food to various markets dotted across the country, but lack the necessary equipment and fertilizer to grow their crops, hence there is a need for the government to support the association to better meet the needs of the populace.

Some graduated farmers took the opportunity to encourage the youth to venture into farming than wait for white-colored jobs since there are lots of technological advancements to aid farming in recent times.
