Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) routine checks in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality have found the Member of Parliament for the area involved in illegal power connection.

The exercise undertaken on Friday, September 16, 2022, was conducted in two of his apartments together with the homes of some of his constituents.

According to Angelonline.com.gh sources, Mr Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi had reported two of his meters for his apartments stolen.

However, when the ECG monitoring team got to his residence they observed that one of the apartments had been connected to a third meter on his premises while power had been directly tapped from the pole to the other apartment.

Enquiries made showed that the MP was not available at the time of routine monitoring.

The ECG officers therefore disconnected power to his third apartment and issued a summon notice to his caretaker who is believed to be a family member.

Meanwhile, culprits who have been apprehended for various instances of illegal connections summed up to 15. They have all been served with summons.

Some of the residents who were involved in the illicit power usage fled their homes upon hearing of ECG’s activities in the area on Friday.
